The Monday Club was first formed in 1988 when parents, of children with learning difficulties, set up a meeting with Social Services to discuss what they most needed to enhance their childrens quality of life while encouraging them to become more involved with the community.
It was decided that a social club should be formed, where anyone with learning difficulties could meet up once a week.
Abbots Langley Community Centre was voted the best venue to hold the club. It has large hall with disabled access with the added bonus of a carpark adjacent to the hall.
We are now in 2017 our 29th year and we are still going strong! The Club is held on a Monday evening 7.00 to 9.00pm, each member pays £1 subscription per visit, we run a coffee bar, discos, arts and crafts are readily at hand, table tennis and snooker games are available and each member’s birthday is celebrated with a present and card! A Christmas Party is held each year and presents are given to each member, we also have the occasional fish and chip supper night.
We are very fortunate to have young volunteers from Parmiter's and St. Michaels secondary school who are a fantastic addition to our team.
The Club is a registered charity and has its own constitution stating what the main aims are for its members; we have a full Management Committee holding meetings every two months and an A.G.M each year.
Thank you for the interest that you have shown in The Monday Club.
