The Monday Club was first formed in 1988 when parents, of children with learning difficulties, set up a meeting with Social Services to discuss what they most needed to enhance their childrens quality of life while encouraging them to become more involved with the community.
It was decided that a social club should be formed, where anyone with learning difficulties could meet up once a week.
Abbots Langley Community Centre was voted the best venue to hold the club. It has large hall with disabled access with the added bonus of a carpark adjacent to the hall.
We are now in 2018 our 30th year and we are still going strong!
The Club is held on a Monday evening 7.00 to 9.00pm. Each member pays £1 subscription per visit and can buy refreshments from our coffee bar.
On a normal evening the activities available are table tennis, snooker, colouring in, model making and board games. We are very fortunate to have young volunteers from Parmiter's secondary school who are a fantastic addition to our team.
We also run a variety of themed evenings such as Disco nights, Film nights, sports and craft nights. We also enjoy going out into the community and are very competitive when we go bowling!
We value our members and celebrate their birthdays with a present and card. A Christmas Party is held each year and presents are given to each member.
The Club is a registered charity and has its own constitution stating what the main aims are for its members; we have a full Management Committee holding meetings every two months and an A.G.M each year.
Thank you for the interest that you have shown in The Monday Club.
